Advent...

For the past couple years I have been intrigued with the idea of Advent Calendars and spending intentional time every day in December getting ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus. I have talked with a couple of friends and been checking online and have found some great ideas that I would like to try with Asher and Zoee this year. One of the neatest websites I came across gave the idea of celebrating a different name of the Lord for each day in December and having a craft to go along with each of those names. I think I am going to use many of her ideas for crafts and maybe tweak a few of them to fit the season of life that we are in with 2 small children with short attention spans. Here is my plan... I will have an ornament with each of the names of the Lord on them and each day in December the kids will pick a different ornament and we will do the craft with the corresponding day =). It's a little ambitious but I will give it a try and see how it goes...

December 1st: God is Almighty- Start Craft
December 2nd: God is Provider- Christmas tree craft & message
December 3rd: God is our Counselor- Paper people chain craft or owl craft
December 4th: God is Jehovah- Name frame craft
December 5th: God is Love- Heart craft; craft
December 6th: God is Good- House craft & message
December 7th: God is Infinite- Galaxy ornament craft & message
December 8th: God is Life- Snowman craft & message
December 9th: God is Everlasting- Wreath craft & message
December 10th: God is our Savior- Nativity craft & message
December 11th: God is the Prince of Peace: Dove craft & message
December 12th: God is King of Kings: Crown craft & message
December 13th: God is full of Grace: Angel craft & message
December 14th: God is Merciful: Snowman craft & message
December 15th: God is Sovereign: Gingerbread House craft
December 16th: God is Powerful: Wind activity & message
December 17th: God is Unchanging: Mountain craft & message
December 18th: God is our Father: Sheep craft & message
December 19th: God is our Victory: Sword craft; craft; & message
December 20th: God is our Healer: Bandaid; cross craft & message
December 21st: God is Faithful: Light craft & message
December 22nd: God is Wonderful: Hanging Star craft
December 23rd: God is Holy: Singing kids craft & message
December 24th: God is Lord: Jesus craft & message

December 25th- Cake for Jesus' birthday!!!

Again, I know this whole plan seems a little ambitious but there's no harm in trying, right? Here we go...
